Senior Ballet Dancers Realize Childhood Dreams. One is never too old to learn. The saying was proven in northeast China's Shenyang City where a group of senior women set up an amateur ballet dancing troupe and have been widely known for their performances at China's trump card TV shows.
Wang Fengxia, 59, was the organizer of and one of the ballet dancers in the troupe. Her love for ballets budded when she was young and watched ballet performers practicing ballet in her neighborhood. But she had to give up her dream due to poverty and family opposition. As life improved, she could pick up her dream and start to learn ballet in 2004 and even set up a ballet troupe later.
"The young people have their dreams and we, senior people, have ours. Our dreams failed to come true when we were young, so we want to use our limited time to realize our childhood dreams and to make up for things we missed," said Wang.
All of the troupe members, over 30 in total, started to learn ballet from scratch, but they said they have harvested a lot of happiness from dancing.
"When you try it and really stand on your toes, you feel a great joy in your heart. You can never tell how excited you can be," said Ma Xun, a member of the Wang Fengxia Art Troupe.
